Camp Nanowrimo 2017

I am back from my hiatus!

Because

N  A  N  O  W  R  I  M  O !

(and, hurrah! WordPress is working again!! :D)

Yes, Camp Nanowrimo 2017 April is HURLING itself at me, and there is no way I can jump out of the way or anything. It’s like a rhinoceros, madams and sirs. Quite the ghastly sight, I must proclaim. (Oops, queenly British mode, where did that come from?)

I decided yesterday that I’d participate, mostly because

a) my tests are over on the 29th of March, which gives me GOOD TIME to stiffen my resolve and generally gear up for a crazy month of writing and weeping.

b) I’ve got about 3/4 of my planning done IN DETAIL!! Which is something I’ve never done before. And because I’m #excited, I’m going to show you some pictures.

I’m super proud of this because it’s SO COMPLICATED and I’m amazed my hopelessly confuddled brain can even produce something so…liney…and…colourful…with two languages…#praiseme

I’m so proud of this…my baby!!

The handwriting is so messy I probably won’t be able to read it but WHO CARES it looks writerly and artistic which is everything

Ooh did you see the words ‘kill’, ‘dead’, ‘witches’ and ‘locked-up’? This is how charming my story will be.

I spent most of my English lessons writing this (sitting in the back row has #benefits)…SO YAS I AM PROUD!!!

I’m going to write only 30000 (Only? Who said that? WHO SAID THAT? COME DIE YOU SCOUNDREL!) words this month, but I’m planning on finishing it at 50000 words.

Ah…I forgot the introduction! Here you are (prepare for lengthy rambling)

What am I writing?

My baby is temporarily named Before The Poison Apple but that’s kind of lame. May good novel title names come to me later. Here is the synopsis:

Before the girl with lips red as a rose, hair black as ebony, skin white as snow was born…

Before she married the King…

Before the Evil Queen gave Snow White the poison apple…

Before she turned her back on the good…

This is the tale of Merewen Lorkes, the tale before all of it happened and changed her life.

This is the tale of what happened before the poison apple.

Well my darlings, I didn’t say it would be perfect! I really have to rewrite it later.

BTPA is, basically speaking, about the afflictions of the Evil Queen, Snow White’s mother and some witches. There’s going to be a BOY who can GROW APPLES like magic, and his sister, who works for an old hermit woman in a forest. The hermit woman happens to be an expert on disguise and potions, and a sorceress in disguise, so naturally she is enemies with the APOTHECARY, an old, ageless man who sells all sorts of things to unwitting travellers in return for time (which is why he never dies, see?). The witches want to hunt Merewen (the Evil Queen) down, and her sister Ophira (Snow White’s mother) is married to the son of a witch-seeker!

So, you see, I can’t actually tell you ALL of the plot without getting tangled up, so you’ll just have to swarm over when I open up for beta-reads. #win

I’m planning on writing 1000 words a day which shouldn’t be too much of a trouble but we’ll see. I need a bit of challenge to churn me on, otherwise I’d be lying around like a potato without the merest teaspoon of enthusiasm.

I’m so excited about this! Another hinty hint about the plot: There is going to be love triangle (not boring, though), and the involved are named Merewen, Kaede, and Orik. Ship names welcome!

HELP!

Can somebody please tell me what’s going on with WordPress? Suddenly, I can’t post images, or use italic script…etc. #GHASTLY!

It’s slightly haunting. Will someone please tell me what’s going on? Is it the same with you guys too?

Thank you so much!

xx in distress

Celestine North lives a perfect life. She’s a model daughter and sister, she’s well-liked by her classmates and teachers, and she’s dating the impossibly charming Art Crevan.

But then Celestine encounters a situation where she makes an instinctive decision. She breaks a rule and now faces life-changing repercussions. She could be imprisoned. She could be branded. She could be found flawed.

In her breathtaking young adult debut, bestselling author Cecelia Ahern depicts a society where perfection is paramount and flaws lead to punishment. And where one young woman decides to take a stand that could cost her everything.

I’m so sorry for my hiatus! That’s because I was reading Flawed up there, and #instagramming. (@thorned.whiteroses Shameless self promotion but HEY I’M ENTITLED TO THAT! Get me to 100 by the end of March 🙂 )

Anyho, a book review!! Ta da!
